Design stories, from idea to skin.

Selected project notes with names and identifying details changed for privacy. The useful part is the decision-making: what changed, why it changed, and how the piece was matched to the body.

A small wrist piece, tightened before booking

Mia, 31Inner wristBrooklyn, NY

IdeaThe client wanted a small wrist tattoo to mark becoming a parent, but did not want initials, dates, or anything visibly sentimental.

DesignWe narrowed the brief to a crescent and two offset stars, then adjusted the spacing so the design would still read at under two inches.

ResultWe recommended a Brooklyn fine-line artist whose healed small work stayed clean. The final placement left enough room around the wrist crease to age more predictably.

Traditional reference, softer execution

Thomas, 38Upper armAustin, TX

IdeaThe client liked traditional snake-and-rose references, but wanted less visual weight and more open skin than the examples he had saved.

DesignWe kept the traditional structure, removed extra leaves, opened the rose, and marked which parts needed a bolder line so the piece would not collapse as it healed.

ResultWe matched him with an Austin artist who regularly works between traditional and fine-line. The final quote and appointment timing were handled directly with the studio.

A mountain reduced to a few lines

Julia, 24ForearmDenver, CO

IdeaThe client wanted a small landscape for a move west, but the early references were too detailed for the size she wanted.

DesignWe compared a literal ridge drawing with a more geometric version, then chose the simpler option because it held its shape better on the forearm.

ResultWe recommended a Denver artist with healed minimalist work in the same size range. The final version preserved negative space instead of relying on tiny interior detail.
